Manugistics and Management Information Systems Group (MISG) To Power eBusiness Intelligence for Automotive Industry
Strategic Relationship Between Manugistics and MISG Offers Improved Trading
Network Collaboration for Automotive Parts Manufacturers

ROCKVILLE, Md. and RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., April 11 Manugistics Group, Inc. and the Management Information Systems
Group, Inc. (MISG), today announced they will jointly market collaborative
eBusiness solutions and supporting technology to the manufacturers, suppliers,
distributors and retailers of automotive and heavy duty parts. Manugistics and
MISG plan to direct these solutions to the more than 3,000 automotive and
heavy duty trading partners that currently utilize MISG network services and
software solutions to conduct eCommerce transactions.
The two companies' relationship will leverage the intelligent decision-
making of Manugistics NetWORKS(TM) solutions and the WebWORKS(TM) XML-based
architecture and the extensive eCommerce expertise and automotive industry
strength of MISG. Automotive and heavy-duty industry clients can expect to
improve the flow of products, reduce inefficiencies and lower costs.
"Manugistics and MISG's relationship will provide the automotive parts
industry with a new opportunity to capitalize on the growing trends in
eCommerce," said Jim Kowalski, vice president of motor vehicle and parts at
Manugistics. "MISG has already established a trading exchange with thousands
of manufacturing and automotive after-market trading partners who will soon
have the capacity to improve their decision-making ability. The next step will
be to connect these trading partners to other emerging exchanges and trading
networks."
MISG will provide the technology infrastructure to support the
collaborative exchange of data between trading partners using Internet and VAN
(Value Added Network)-supported trading networks. Manugistics will initially
provide solutions to better manage information flow between trading partners.
The solutions are designed to enable real-time decision making so that trading
partners are better able to make the right decisions for profitable growth.
"Manugistics will bring intelligent business applications to our
automotive customers that need to better manage the flow of parts and
information," said Alan Jones, vice president and general manager of MISG.
"The trading partners we serve will now be better able to identify technology
solutions that support initiatives across their extended trading network."
Manugistics and MISG anticipate that Manugistics NetWORKS solutions
including NetWORKS Demand(TM), NetWORKS Master Planning(TM), NetWORKS
Fulfillment(TM), NetWORKS Procurement(TM), and NetWORKS Transport(TM) will be
included in future joint marketing efforts.
"Our relationship with MISG will help the industry manage Web-related
orders, optimize inventory levels, facilitate the distribution of parts
information between supplier and customer and provide real-time data,"
Kowalski said.
