Siemens Revs Up Store Traffic with New Retailer Promotion Program

    AUSTIN, Texas--April 10, 2000--

Exciting 2000 Promotional Package
Centers on Siemens' Auto Racing Sponsorship

Retailers eager for a surge in spring sales can get fueled up about a year-long retailer-centered promotion from Siemens, the leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of feature-rich 2.4GHz, digital cordless phones for the North American market.
Siemens has put together an exciting new sales promotion program for its dealers built around the company's co-sponsorship of Bill Davis Racing's Amoco/Siemens Team 93 Pontiac driven by Dave Blaney. Details of the promotion - called "Rev Up Your Sales" - are spelled out in a special dealer promotion kit that is currently being distributed to retailers.
The promotion is designed to stimulate store traffic through tie-ins to the nation's most popular spectator sport, as well as to directly increase dealers' sales of Siemens entire line of 2.4GHz cordless phones. Dealers can also use promotional packages as incentives or rewards for salespeople who go the extra mile to sell Siemens products.
The multi-faceted 2000 "Rev Up Your Sales" promotion includes in-store events designed to accelerate foot traffic, provide sales and purchase incentives, and a series of additional promotional activities that will be announced throughout the year. A few of Siemens' racing promotions available to retailers include Winston Cup race tickets, crew member-for-a-day awards and in-store show car and driver appearances. The retailer promotion is complemented by a contest running on the Siemens Cordless Web site (www.siemenscordless.com), where visitors can qualify for all expense paid trips to the races now through September.
"Our promotions strategy is straightforward - to drive consumers to the retailers and to help our retailers sell even more Siemens cordless phones," said Kristine Ryan Tanzillo, director of marketing for Siemens Communication Devices. "Motorsports is a multi-billion dollar industry and is the fastest growing major spectator sport in the United States in terms of paid attendance and television sponsorship. Since the greatest impact on that growth has come from NASCAR, we believe that Siemens' sponsorship and our "Rev Up Your Sales" promotion program will help our retail partners win big by tapping into unprecedented consumer excitement."
Siemens was the first phone manufacturer to offer full 2.4GHz transmission for both the telephone base and handset resulting in sound quality benefits superior to older radio frequencies. Based on the leading DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication) standard, the award-winning Gigaset(R) family of cordless phone systems incorporates advanced technology and design principles. Targeted for small office/home offices (SOHOs) and active households, the Gigaset takes just minutes to install and requires no phone jacks for additional cordless handsets.
For more than 150 years, Siemens has been well-known in Europe and around the world for high quality and finely engineered telecommunications products. Siemens Communication Devices, a division of Siemens Information and Communication Products LLC, develops, manufactures and markets feature-rich, digital cordless products for the North American market. Siemens is the leading provider of cordless phones based on the DECT standard, having shipped more than 20 million DECT phones in more than 50 countries. Within the entire cordless market, Siemens ranks second in the world.
