Textron Names Douglas Wilburne Vice President Investor Relations and Communications
PROVIDENCE, R.I.--April 10, 2000--Textron Inc. today announced that Douglas R. Wilburne has been named vice president, investor relations and communications, effective April 17. He has also been appointed an officer of the corporation. Wilburne succeeds Mary F. Lovejoy, who has been promoted to vice president and treasurer of Textron (see related press release).In his new role, Wilburne will have responsibility for communicating Textron's strategy and financial and operational performance to all of the company's stakeholders, including investment and business communities, the media and employees. Wilburne's focus will span communications with analysts, institutional investors and employees, media relations, crisis management and corporate marketing. He will report to Executive Vice President Mary L. Howell.

Wilburne most recently headed investor relations for Rite Aid Corporation, where he established that company's first investor relations program and managed an extensive repositioning of the company's investor base.
From 1997 to 1999, he was director, investor relations for AMP Incorporated, where he led the company's global investor relations program and guided the company through its merger with Tyco International. Prior to joining AMP, Wilburne spent 20 years at Bell Atlantic Corporation, where he held numerous positions of increasing responsibility in engineering, operations, regulatory and finance. From 1992 to 1994, he served as Bell Atlantic's director of corporate treasury, then went on to become director of corporate finance in 1994 and director of investor relations in 1995.
Wilburne, a chartered financial analyst, earned a BS degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA in Finance from Drexel University.
