Jim Hutzler earns AMA Dud Perkins Award

Hutzler received the AMA's Dud Perkins Award in recognition of his 20-plus years of tireless work for the Association. Besides working as a district officer in AMA District 36 (Northern California-Northwestern Nevada), he has served as a delegate to the AMA Congress since 1977. He also was elected to the Congress Off-Road Division Executive Committee in 1998 and again in 1999. Carl Reynolds, a current AMA trustee and immediate past chairman of the AMA Board, presented the award to Hutzler earlier this month at the honoree's home. Hutzler is confined to his home due to a serious illness. "It's an honor to be able to present this award to him," Reynolds said. "In addition to being a personal friend for more than 20 years, Jim has been a lifetime friend of the AMA and motorcycling," Reynolds said. "He has served the Association in many capacities, and served it well." The Dud Perkins Award was established in 1971 and first presented to its namesake. It is named after a San Francisco motorcycle dealer who embodied tireless and generous dedication to every aspect of motorcycling. The award's purpose is the acknowledge the highest level of service to the Association in any area of activity.
