FleetConnect from ADP Helps Truck Dealers Deliver One-Stop Parts Shop to Fleets
SAN ANTONIO--April 7, 2000--American Truck Dealers 2000 - ADP Dealer Services , a leading provider of integrated business computing solutions to truck and auto dealers, is showcasing the enhanced ADP FleetConnect -- the one-stop parts shopping system for heavy-duty truck dealers and their fleet customers.Designed to minimize inventory errors and decrease parts-ordering time, FleetConnect transforms out-of-date parts inventory processes into a faster, easier way to keep track of current parts inventory and the parts receiving and cycling processes, which improves customer relations and maximizes the profitability of parts departments.
FleetConnect places a barcode scanner at the fleet location, enabling fleets to easily update their inventory and transmit orders to the dealer. A PC and barcode printer at the dealer site allow the dealer to download the order and barcode labels to be printed for each order. The fleet can even check the dealer's inventory for parts availability using the fleet PC. The latest release of FleetConnect adds parts warranty tracking.
All bar-coded parts entering the fleet truck location are initially scanned into inventory and when the part is accessed for repair, the bar code is rescanned to remove the part from inventory. FleetConnect then automatically reorders the part if the in-stock quantity falls below predetermined stocking levels, adding it to the daily order.
This user-friendly system enables fleet personnel to view and adjust the order prior to sending it to the dealership and to respond quickly to changing inventory requirements.
ADP's FleetConnect manages inventory costs by tracking each part used, recapping orders, auditing parts activity, confirming parts availability and placing electronic orders - reducing human error and helping dealerships accomplish tasks in half the time of the traditional ordering process.
The connection between the dealer and the fleet is further strengthened with FleetConnect [Service]. In addition to parts data, the fleet PC will collect and store service data. This important information, including service history and maintenance costs, can be shared between the dealer and fleet to ensure complete records on both sides. This module gives the fleet the ability to closely track unit costs. Barcoding is extended to the repair order for quick input of service information.
