Acknowledging Timken for its product and service quality and cost reduction efforts, Toyota Motor Corporation recognized Timken at its 2000 Toyota Supplier Convention in February in Nagoya, Japan. Toyota also awarded Timken the Certification for Achievement in Import Value Improvement. "Once again, Toyota has recognized us for the value we bring through the quality of our bearing products and services," said Brent J. Dorman, vice president - Asia Pacific - The Timken Company. "Our dedication to meeting customer needs globally via our worldwide quality audit and continuous improvement programs ensures that our customers can rely on our product, no matter where in the world it is manufactured." Timken supplies tapered roller bearings for wheel applications in Toyota sport utility vehicles, light trucks, vans and passenger cars. Timken also supplies Toyota differential bearings for manual transaxles. Toyota has recognized Timken with quality awards seven times in the last eight years. "Toyota engineers have access to our global research and development capabilities and experience," Mr. Dorman said. "To meet the design needs of customers, including Toyota, throughout Asia, we opened a research facility in Yokohama, Japan, in 1999 to complement our other research facilities in England, India and the United States."
