Hayes Lemmerz Attains ISO 14001 Registration

    NORTHVILLE, Mich., April 7 Hayes Lemmerz International,
Inc. , one of the world's leading suppliers of wheels, brakes,
powertrain, suspension, structural and other lightweight components to the
automotive and commercial highway markets, today announced that it's Autokola,
Ostrava, Czech Republic manufacturing facility has attained ISO 14001
registration.
    According to Michael Coffman, Director of Health, Safety, Environmental
and Risk Management, "Hayes Lemmerz's commitment to ISO 14001 and the quality
of its environmental management systems reflects our dedication to excellence

    The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) program promotes
the development of international quality standards for industries competing in
the global marketplace.
    The ISO 14001 standard focuses on continuous improvement in environmental
performance through a rigorous program of established procedures.  This
voluntary system helps enable companies to manage environmental issues,
including compliance.
    It requires that companies set environmental targets and objectives,
communicate those objectives throughout the organization and demonstrate
results toward continuous improvement.  Strict adherence is closely monitored
internally and audited by an independent ISO 14001 registrar.
