Cummins Receives Nifty Fifty Award
COLUMBUS, Ind.--April 6, 2000--Cummins Engine Co. Inc., has been honored for introducing one of the 50 most significant new products of 1999 to the commercial trucking industry. The award-winning product, ICON(TM), is an idle control system that saves money by eliminating unnecessary engine idling, reducing maintenance costs and ensuring operator comfort through a sensor that monitors oil temperature and automatically starts or stops the engine to keep the oil temperature at normal readings.ICON(TM) was chosen from hundreds of new products to receive a "Nifty Fifty" award from Heavy Duty Trucking magazine, the nation's leading fleet manager's publication. The award selections were made by a panel of technical editors at the magazine. Heavy Duty Trucking editors have won over 35 awards for journalism excellence.
