Delphi Receives Quality Awards From SaturnFLINT, Mich., April 5 Delphi Automotive Systems' Energy & Chassis Systems was the recipient of four 1999 Saturn Quality Achievement Awards from Saturn Corp. The year 2000 marks the ninth year that Saturn Corp. has honored its suppliers. This year's event was based on the theme "Journey to the Future -- Destination: Quality," and a total of 190 suppliers were recognized. Paul Hegwood, plant manager of Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems' Kettering Operations, Patrick Hartman, senior quality analyst and Cheryl Sutton, Saturn work cell team member were at the event to receive a Most Improved Quality Award for achieving less than 25 PPM (parts per million returned or rejected) for strut modules. The Kettering operations, which has been supplying strut modules to Saturn's Spring Hill operations, was presented with the Most Improved Quality Award for attaining 20 PPM for the 1999 calendar year. Senior Quality Engineer Bob Lindgren and Quality Network representative Lynn Molenkamp accepted two awards on behalf of Delphi Energy & Chassis' Grand Rapids facility. The Grand Rapids facility was recognized for quality achievements on roller hydraulic valve lifters and hydraulic lash adjusters supplied to Saturn. This is the fourth year that Grand Rapids has received a Quality Achievement Award and the second year to receive an Outstanding Quality Award. In addition, Mike Sharkey, general supervisor, Terry Gregory, committeeperson and Terry Cassidy, job setter accepted a Quality Achievement Award on behalf of Delphi's Flint East facility for transmission and engine oil bypass valves produced for Saturn.
