American Suzuki Automotive Posts Best March Sales in More Than a DecadeBREA, Calif., April 3 Supported by a growing dealer network, American Suzuki reports its strongest sales month since August 1988. Marking sales increases across its six-model line, American Suzuki sold 6,486 vehicles in March, a 67-percent increase over March 1999 sales. Suzuki's award-winning Grand Vitara had its best month ever with 3,162 sales, a 30-percent increase over the same month a year ago. Both Esteem models sold briskly through the month, posting 2,211 sales, a 124-percent increase over March 1999 sales "This is the best sales month we've had in 12 years," said Gary Anderson, American Suzuki Automotive Division vice president of sales and marketing. "We're crediting this months' increase to our strengthened dealer network and range of value-packed, fuel-efficient cars and SUVs." With steadily increasing sales in the U.S., American Suzuki contributed to the global success of Suzuki Motor Corporation, which celebrated an 80th anniversary in March.
