Nissan Division Reports a 27.3 Percent Increase in Sales; Xterra Leads With Record Breaking MonthCARSON, Calif., April 3 Thanks in part to a new Xterra sales record, the Nissan Division of Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) posted March sales of 62,142, an increase of 27.3% versus last year. Trucks led the way with Xterra posting a record breaking sales month of 7,841 units; followed by Frontier with sales of 10,579 units, an increase of 74.1 percent; Pathfinder, with sales of 7,228 units, an increase of 20.7 percent. The Nissan Quest had sales of 3,779 units. Total truck sales were up 77.3 percent over last year. In the sedan category, Maxima posted strong sales of 14,117 units, an increase of 37.7 percent over last year. Altima had sales of 14,027 units followed by the Sentra which had sales of 4,564 units. An all-new Sentra goes on sale this month at Nissan retailers across the country. "This was a year of awards and accolades for Xterra, but our biggest reward is seeing how excited consumers remain about this vehicle," notes Bill Kirrane, general manager of Nissan. Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles for March totaled 40,791 units, which represents 65.6% of all Nissan vehicles sold in the United States. Nissan North America, Inc. sales for March, including Nissan and Infiniti Divisions, totaled 69,578 units, a 23.4 percent increase over last year.
