Prudential Reduces Rates for Connecticut Drivers

HOLMDEL, NJ--April 3, 2000--Prudential Property and Casualty Insurance Company (PRUPAC) is reducing Auto insurance rates in Connecticut by an average of 7.4 percent statewide. Some Connecticut drivers will enjoy reductions of over 15 percent.
"We're delighted to lower prices for our Auto policyholders in Connecticut," said Ed Rafter, PRUPAC President. "Not only are we offering lower prices, but our customers will find we've made terrific improvements to our customer service. State of the art technology enhances our claims handling process and makes it easier for our customers to do business with us -- and that's our primary goal."
The price reduction takes effect on March 31 for new Auto policies, Rafter notes. Customers with existing policies will start seeing their savings as their policies renew on or after May 26.
In another new development, Prudential just introduced Recreational Vehicle coverage for antique and classic cars as well as special interest vehicles, replicas and kit cars. This coverage also includes snowmobiles and golf carts.
A variety of discounts may help to lower Prudential premiums even further for Connecticut drivers. For example, the company's Companion for Life Discount can lower premiums by 5 percent in certain cases for customers who have both Auto and Life policies with Prudential. The company also offers Companion Policy Discounts of up to 15 percent for customers who have Auto and Home policies with Prudential.
Other premium-saving discounts are available for safety devices, anti-theft devices, driver training, good student, defensive driver, and multi-car coverage. A Deluxe Package Discount of 10 percent is available to policyholders who meet and maintain certain specified coverages and qualifications.
In addition to auto and recreational vehicle coverage, PRUPAC offers Homeowners, Condominium, Renters, Dwelling Fire, Personal Catastrophe Liability and Boat insurance.
As one of the top 20 property and casualty insurers in Connecticut, Prudential provides coverage for nearly 28,000 autos and more than 18,000 homes and sells personal lines products and life insurance and annuities through about 100 agents in the state.
Prudential Property and Casualty Insurance Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Prudential Insurance Company of America, based in Newark, NJ. Prudential is one of the largest life insurance companies in North America.
