INTERMET Names New General Manager at Columbus Foundry

INTERMET Names New General Manager at Columbus Foundry

    TROY, Mich., March 31 INTERMET Corporation ,
one of the world's leading independent manufacturers of cast-metal automotive
components, announced today that Steve Lake has been named General Manager of
INTERMET's Columbus Foundry, effective April 1, 2000.  The Columbus Foundry is
located in Columbus, Georgia.
    Lake joins the Columbus Foundry from INTERMET's Radford Foundry in
Radford, Virginia, where he has served as General Manager since January 1998.
    Michael J. Ryan, INTERMET's Executive Vice President of Operations, said,
"We are very pleased that Steve is moving over to our Columbus plant.  Under
his direction, the Radford plant has seen considerable improvements in both
efficiency and profitability.  Steve is a strong and dynamic leader who will
contribute significantly to our foundry operations in Columbus."
    Prior to his assignment at Radford, Lake was General Manager of INTERMET's
Alexander City Foundry in Alabama.  In 1984, he joined Wagner Castings
Company, which was acquired by INTERMET in 1996, holding engineering and
manufacturing positions at Wagner's Decatur and Havana foundries in Illinois.
    Lake received a bachelor of science degree in manufacturing from Bradley
University.
