ASEC Announces Executive AppointmentCATOOSA, Okla., March 30 Malcolm R. Baxter has been named general director Global Operations for ASEC Manufacturing effective March 21, 2000, managing director Guy Jones announced. Baxter has had a long and distinguished career in the catalyst industry having been with Johnson Matthey since 1974. His first 23 years was in the catalytic systems division. Baxter's last assignment in the catalytic group was president Catalytic Systems Division of Americas, in Wayne, Penn. While there he was involved with expansions into Mexico and Argentina. Baxter was involved with early three-way catalyst development. He then progressed through several senior operation positions in the United States, Belgium and the United Kingdom. Baxter's last position was as President, Advanced Circuits, Inc., part of Johnson Matthey Electronics Division located in Eden Prairie, Minn. "Malcolm brings extensive experience in operations, research and global business expansion in the automotive catalyst industry. An experienced leader, he will immediately contribute by advancing ASEC's technology and operational excellence in our drive to become the market leader," Jones said. Baxter received his bachelor of science in chemistry with honors from the University of Bristol in England. ASEC is a worldwide producer of catalysts for automotive and motorcycle applications. Headquartered in the Port of Catoosa, Oklahoma, ASEC employs more than 800 men and women worldwide. ASEC has manufacturing facilities in the Port of Catoosa; San Luis Potosi, Mexico; and Florange, France. Recently, ASEC announced a major investment in South Africa for a new exhaust catalyst manufacturing facility in Port Elizabeth which will be operational this May. ASEC has engineering centers in the United States, Luxembourg and Japan, and sales offices in six countries.
