Lear Corporation Earns Top Recognition With Two World Excellence Awards from FordSOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 30 Lear Corporation has earned two World Excellence Awards for superior performance in 1999 from the Ford Motor Company. The annual award is the automaker's highest supplier recognition honoring suppliers for superior performance based on quality, cost and delivery metrics that were jointly developed by Ford and its suppliers. At Ford's award ceremony earlier this week, Lear was presented with Ford's Gold Award in the seating components category, the only category for recognition of performance by interior suppliers. Lear was one of only 11 suppliers who received Gold Awards. The Gold Award is given to the business units of suppliers that excel in all three of the key performance areas of quality, cost and delivery. Lear also received Ford's Recognition of Achievements Award for impacting customer satisfaction through leadership in the Warranty Reduction Program. The recognition of Lear's efforts also was accompanied by a check for $156,000 for warranty reduction in interior trim and another check for $151,000 for warranty savings from the Lear Electronic and Electric Division. "Lear is part of an exclusive world-class club of Ford's top suppliers. Lear made extraordinary contributions to Ford that helped make 1999 a very successful year," said Carlos Mazzorin, the Ford Group Vice President of Global Purchasing and South America. "Ford's quest for excellence cannot be accomplished without our supplier partners and performance like this deserves to be recognized."
