Wescast Wins Gold at Ford's Annual World Excellence Award Ceremony
BRANTFORD, Ontario--March 29, 2000--Wescast Industries Inc. (TSE:WCS.A.) was honoured by Ford Motor Company with The World Excellence Award -- Gold Award -- for superior supplier performance in 1999. Wescast was one of only eleven suppliers worldwide to receive the Gold Award at Ford's award ceremony in Detroit, Michigan on March 27, 2000.The World Excellence Award is the highest supplier recognition for Ford's major suppliers. The program began in 1998 and has become an annual award program based on specific performance metrics that were jointly developed by Ford and its suppliers. There are four different types of World Excellence Awards -- Platinum, Gold, Silver and Recognition of Achievement. Gold Awards are given to suppliers that excel in all target areas of quality, cost and delivery. In 1998, Wescast won two Silver Awards for quality and cost.
