Dennis M. Pope Named President of SPX's GS Lab Equipment Unit

    MUSKEGON, Mich., March 29 SPX Corporation
today announced that it has named Dennis M. Pope as President of its
GS Lab Equipment business unit, located in Asheville, North Carolina.
    Mr. Pope joins SPX from Cole-Parmer Instrument Company where he was
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the past four years.
He has over 30 years of leadership and international and domestic sales
experience in the laboratory products industry.  This experience includes a
lengthy career with Fisher Scientific Company in various positions with
increasing responsibilities.
    A graduate of Georgia State University, Mr. Pope holds a BBA in Marketing.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Laboratory Products
Association.
    GS Lab Equipment is a world leader in the design and manufacture of
ultra-low temperature freezers, refrigerators, incubators, ovens, furnaces,
waterbaths and other controlled temperature equipment for the scientific and
laboratory markets.  GS Lab is most widely recognized for its Revco brand
refrigeration equipment.
