Timken Steel Bar Prices Continue to Rebound

CANTON, Ohio, March 29 Due to continued global market
strengthening within the steel industry and rising raw material costs, The
Timken Corporation today announced a price increase on steel bar products.
Prices on all carbon and alloy bars will increase by $15 per ton effective
with new orders received after April 1.
"This move is in line with other industry-announced increases and follows
our recent tubing price increases," said Robert N. Keeler, director - steel
sales - North America, South America and Asia. "The demand for steel products
has reached the point where the recovery of prices in spot markets is now in
order."
    The Timken Company ( http://www.timken.com ) is a leading
international manufacturer of highly engineered bearings and alloy steels with
operations in 25 countries. The company employs about 21,000 people worldwide
and reported 1999 sales of U.S. $2.5 billion.
