Thor Wins Record RV Order and Bus Bids Totaling $88 Million; Order Backlog at Record $375 Million up 58% from Last YearJACKSON CENTER, Ohio, March 28 Thor Industries, Inc. announced today that it received its largest recreation vehicle order ever and several large orders for its mid-size buses. The orders total $88 million, increasing Thor's order backlog to a record $375 million, up 58% from $238 million last year. Thor's Four Winds division received 400 orders valued at $16 million for its Class C motorhomes from Cruise America, Inc. the largest RV rental operator. In addition, Thor's bus division received orders for 755 buses totaling $72 million from major transit and commercial operators. "RV backlog is $144 million up 26% from $114 million last year and Bus backlog is $231 million, up 88% from $123 million last year. To meet increased order input Four Winds' state-of-the-art 165,000 sq. ft. motorhome plant opened last week. Further, major facilities expansions at our Kansas bus plant and California and Oregon travel trailer facilities are underway," said Wade F.B. Thompson, Thor chairman.
