Superior Industries Hungarian Joint Venture Achieves ISO14000 Environmental Certification

VAN NUYS, Calif.--March 28, 2000--Superior Industries International, Inc. announced today that its Hungarian joint venture, SUOFTEC, has become one of the first automotive suppliers in Europe to achieve certification under the International Standard Organization's (ISO) Environmental Management Standard, ISO14000.
"ISO14000 is rapidly becoming the de facto environmental standard in Europe and Asia," a spokesman said. "Superior is proud to be among the first in our industry to achieve this demanding certification at our state-of-the-art facility in Tatabanya. Two of Superior's manufacturing facilities in the United States are also ISO14000 certified, and we plan to seek this distinction for our plant in Mexico later this year.
"ISO14000 environmental certification is a crucial aspect of Superior's total commitment to continuous quality improvement. This program is the foundation for the reputation for quality and reliability that is the key to our success in winning new customers and gaining market share. This latest ISO14000 certification reinforces Superior's leadership in environmental management in the automotive industry."
