OmniQuip Textron Selects ADAMS(R) Virtual Prototyping Software From Mechanical Dynamics for Design and Development of Light Construction EquipmentANN ARBOR, Mich., March 28 OmniQuip Textron, a wholly owned subsidiary of Textron , a leading manufacturer of light construction equipment, has selected ADAMS(R) mechanical system simulation software from Mechanical Dynamics, Inc. as its standard tool for functional virtual prototyping. OmniQuip Textron's initial purchase of ADAMS software includes the ADAMS Full Simulation Package and ADAMS/Flex, an interface to structural analysis software, for use in its product design and development process. The company, with 16 locations in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, is the largest North American producer of telescopic material handlers. Headquartered in Port Washington, Wisc., OmniQuip Textron also produces aerial work platforms, skid steer loaders, and power lifters and haulers. "We're very pleased that OmniQuip Textron has chosen to implement functional virtual prototyping with ADAMS as a key component in managing risk in their product development process," said Robert R. Ryan, president and chief operating officer of Mechanical Dynamics. "The benefits, in terms of shorter production cycles, lower development costs, and optimized designs will prove out the investment OmniQuip Textron is making in our ADAMS software." Michael Hall, vice president of engineering at OmniQuip Textron, said, "We recognize that getting to market faster and with the highest-quality products requires the use of leading-edge technologies such as ADAMS. Establishing functional virtual prototyping as a key part of our product development process will help us bring new and improved quality products to our customers in a shorter time." Mechanical Dynamics pioneered the field of mechanical system simulation with its market-leading ADAMS(R) software, and has remained committed to extending the capabilities of this technology to benefit manufacturers in every industry worldwide. Engineering teams use ADAMS to build and test functional virtual prototypes of their complex mechanical system designs. ADAMS users also take advantage of a full range of implementation services, including consulting and training. In this way, Mechanical Dynamics partners with its customers to help reduce the time, costs, and risks of the product development process and meet the "Smarter to Market(TM)" challenge.
