DuraSwitch Promotes Technology Licensing Program at SAE 2000 and National Design Engineering ShowsPHOENIX, March 28 DuraSwitch(R) Industries, Inc.'s (Amex: DRA) executive licensing team recently attended the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) and National Design Engineering shows to promote the DuraSwitch Technology Licensing Program to electronic switch component manufacturers and OEMs of electronic products. DuraSwitch first attended the SAE show in Detroit, the show place for the "who's who" of the auto industry. The executive licensing team seized the opportunity to promote the licensing strategy to Delphi, Visteon, Lear, Siemens, Marquardt, Bosch, Eaton, Methode Development and others. "The electronic switch requirements of the auto industry are ideal for the unique reliability, consistent tactile, non-rattle features of the patented magnetic-based DuraSwitch technologies," stated Terry Dunlap, CEO. "Automobile switches and control panels are estimated to comprise about 10% of the North American switch industry." Each year, an estimated 50 million automobiles are sold with over 30 switches located in the driver's cockpit alone. The opportunities within the automobile industry are significant and long-term. DuraSwitch has carved out this industry from its non-exclusive licensing agreements with the intention of licensing a Tier 1 auto supplier to exclusively manufacture and supply the integrated electronic controls featuring the patented DuraSwitch PushGate(TM), Rotor(TM) and the MagnaMouse(TM), a directionally sensitive switch. Following the SAE Show, the licensing team visited the National Design Engineering show in Chicago. There, its products were featured by Xymox Technologies, DuraSwitch's initial North America Licensee. The Design Show was well attended by switch manufactures and suppliers, serving a wide variety of industries such as medical, industrial controls, exercise equipment, beverage dispensers, gas pumps, military, marine, appliances and other electronically activated products. Tim Kuhn, VP of Business Development, conducted pre-arranged meetings with several switch manufacturers to explain the licensing advantages and program specifics of a win-win relationship of market differentiation and product line enhancement. "Attending this show catapulted our licensing efforts forward. It gave us the opportunity to meet the key decision makers in a three day period within this high energy forum," stated Kuhn. At the shows, DuraSwitch unveiled the terms of its non-exclusive licensing program to interested manufacturers. The thrust of the licensing program is its simplicity in form and ease of adaptation by switch manufacturers. The manufacturers purchase unique, patented switch components from DuraSwitch and manufacture, sell and distribute the end product to their customers. The PushGate push button armature is the first program being offered with the key advantages of durability, reliability, thin design and consistent tactile click. Licensees face no domestic territory restrictions in North America for offering the next generation DuraSwitch technology to their customers. "During 1999, DuraSwitch introduced its technology directly to the end users producing various prototype projects and generating interest from high volume customers. This introduction has been a catalyst for inquiries and discussions from high volume manufacturing licensees. In fact, some of XYMOX's established high volume customers were originally introduced to the PushGate technology through DuraSwitch's direct sales efforts during 1999. As a licensee, XYMOX will service the production needs of these customers," stated Bob Brilon, President and CFO. DuraSwitch Industries, Inc. engineers, distributes and licenses flat panel and rotary switches under its patented switch technology (U.S. Patents No. 5,523,730 / 5,666,096 / 5,867,082 / 5,990,772 / 6,023,213).
