AK Steel Captures Dual Honors From Toyota for 6th Year

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio--March 2, 2000--AK Steel has again earned the highest recognition possible in two separate categories from Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America, Inc. The awards were announced this evening at Toyota's annual Supplier Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony in Cincinnati.
AK Steel became the first steel supplier to earn dual awards for its performance from Toyota in 1994, a feat the company has now repeated for a sixth consecutive year. The last two years, AK Steel has earned the highest possible honor, superior, for both quality and delivery.
AK Steel recently surpassed 72 consecutive months with 100% on-time delivery performance to Toyota's Georgetown, Kentucky plant. AK Steel also supplies Toyota plants in Princeton, Indiana and Long Beach, California.
"The pride we have in earning such prestigious honors from Toyota is only heightened as we build upon our unprecedented record of six consecutive dual awards," said Richard M. Wardrop, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of AK Steel. "Clearly our focus on value-added products, superb service and flawless delivery resonates with one of the great names in the automotive industry."
