Putting a Face on the Numbers; Ford Motor Company Publishes Unique Annual Report Series

    DEARBORN, Mich., March 27 Becoming more customer focused
has been a key strategy for Ford Motor Company and this emphasis is
evident in the Company's 1999 Annual Report.
    In a unique move among annual reports, Ford Motor Company is publishing
its 1999 report with eight different covers.  Each cover features a customer
who benefits from Ford Motor Company products and services.
    The cover families are from around the world, including Sweden, Scotland,
India, Japan and several from North America.
    "The report doesn't just tell our 'Connecting with Customers' strategy,"
said Mel Stephens, Ford's director of Investor Relations.  "It shows it by
proudly featuring customers from around the world on the front cover and
throughout the book."
    Customers are included to illustrate the company's customer strategy and
Consumer Business Groups such as the Premier Automotive Group, Automotive
Consumer Services Group and Hertz.
    In addition to being photographed, customers recorded statements on how
Ford Motor Company products and services fit their lives and the audio will be
available online.
    "I'm in outside sales.  So it is very important that I have a dependable
automobile that can give me all the things that I need through my travels,"
said Ford owner Vince Tata.  "I need dependability.  I need a car that's going
to be comfortable and something that can really take a lot of punishment
because I do put on a lot of miles."
    The 1999 report also outlines Ford Motor Company's impressive heritage as
a benchmark for Chairman Bill Ford's discussion of future accomplishments in
"A New Century of Success."  The back cover features the company's new Vision,
Mission and Values statement, which was constructed around the conviction that
"The Customer is Job One."
    The reports are being distributed to more than 700,000 shareholders around
the world beginning today.  The online version of the report also will be
available soon at http://www.shareholder.ford.com .

    *  The Tatas from Plymouth, Michigan, owners of a Ford Taurus and Windstar
    *  The Biswajits from Chennai, India, owners of a Ford Ikon
