Vetronix Announces New Vice President; Walt Ware Joins In-Vehicle Products Division

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--March 27, 2000--Walter Ware has joined Vetronix Corp. (www.vetronix.com) as vice president and general manager of its newly created In-Vehicle Products Division.
The In-Vehicle Products Division has been established to focus on leveraging and converting the significant Vetronix core engine/vehicle interface and diagnostic electronic technology capabilities, plus wireless and Internet technologies into commercial products and services for the rapidly emerging automotive telematics market.
Telematics is the name given to a new family of high-tech automotive products and services that provide advanced vehicle communications, information, remote control and entertainment capability to motor vehicles. Vetronix, in conjunction with Clarion Radio Corp., recently demonstrated two exciting new telematics products at the Consumer Electronics Show 2000 (CES 2000) in Las Vegas in January.
The products were WirelessRoad(TM) and CarPort(TM), two leading-edge technology peripherals that are offered with Clarion's new hi-tech Auto PC Radio and multimedia entertainment product. WirelessRoad is new technology for automobiles that utilizes the installed national wireless infrastructure to bring two-way e-mail capability, as well as other Internet content at the driver's voice command to your automobile.
It also enables remote monitoring of essentially all vehicle functions for commercial or personal automotive vehicle information and control. CarPort was introduced at CES last year, and shipments began in the third quarter of 1999. CarPort is another accessory for the Auto PC Radio, which enables a number of Voice Actuated functions and features to be delivered through the Auto PC.
Some of the features are: trip log and expense report records, engine/vehicle trouble code information, anti-theft starter disable, remote door locking and unlocking, and many others. The Vetronix telematics technology REVIEW(TM) product offers owners and operators of fleet trucks and cars significant potential to improve employee and vehicle productivity in addition to asset management capability.
Ware brings to Vetronix more than 25 years of global automotive industry experience, including senior executive positions with AlliedSignal Corp. (now Honeywell), Goulds Pump Corp., IDEX Corp., Detroit Diesel Corp. (a Penske Co.) and most recently as president and chief executive officer of Turbodyne Technologies Inc.
He comes to Vetronix with many years of seasoned experience and associations with automotive OEMs and fleet operators. Plus, he has been directly involved in start-up Internet and high-tech electronic-based businesses.
Vetronix Corp., a Santa Barbara-headquartered company, was established in 1984 and has grown to win a significant global market for its OEM electronic diagnostic equipment. Vetronix is an industry leader in the field of automotive service equipment, and is active in the OEM, aftermarket and fleet segments of the automotive service industry.
Through cooperative development relationships with such automotive OEMs as General Motors, Adam Opel, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Isuzu, Suzuki and Kia, Vetronix testers and diagnostic software dominate the market. More than 40% of all new vehicles produced worldwide are serviced at the dealership level with technology designed and developed by Vetronix.
