Ride for Kids Raises $48K in San Bernardino Dual Sport Ride
26 March 2000
Over 225 riders raised a record $48,360 on Sunday, March 19 at the San Bernardino Dual Sport Ride for Kids. The first event of the season took place under sunny skies at the Glen Helen Motosports facility in Glen Helen, California. Actor Perry King was a big hit with riders and the children as he enjoyed the dual sport ride and shared how proud he was to be a part of their caring community. Desert Racer Paul Krause was also in attendance for the second year in a row along with his 2-year old son Brandon, a brain tumor patient who has been receiving chemotherapy. Hope Koehler, mother of 6 year old poster child Trent, could hardly hold back the tears of joy as she shared how thankful she is that Trent is alive and well. Dr. Stuart Siegel, of the Children's Hospital of LA, provided additional inspiration to the riders about how proud he is of the work the motorcyclists are doing to help find the cause and cure of children's brain tumors. This year's top fund raiser was Ed Schneiderhan with $7,005. The Orange County Duallies once again led the club fund raisers, bringing a whopping $17,379. The number one dealer was Fineline Motosports, whose customers brought $13,110 to help the kids. A thrilled and nearly speechless Damien Mendoza was the lucky winner of a brand new Honda motorcycle, courtesy of the Honda Rider's Club of America. The next Ride for Kids event will be held in Houston Texas on April 30, 2000.
