Nissan to Sell Holdings in Fuji Heavy Industries to General Motors

    TOKYO, March 24 Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.
announced today that it will sell 25.4 million
shares in Fuji Heavy Industries to The General Motors Corporation.  The sale
includes the entire holding of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. in Fuji Heavy.  The
transaction is scheduled to be completed on April 11, 2000.
    As part of the Nissan Revival Plan, the company announced its intention to
dispose of non-core assets.  The sale of these assets is an integral part of
the implementation of this plan as it contributes to achieving the goal of
reducing net automotive debt by 50% by fiscal year 2002.
