SmarTire Systems Supplied To CART Race Cars

    RICHMOND, British Columbia--March 23, 2000--
    SmarTire

When the tires hit the pavement at this weekend's FedEx Championship Series season-opener at the Marlboro Grand Prix in Miami, SmarTire's wireless pressure monitoring systems will again provide the majority of race teams with tire pressure data.
The event marks the exciting launch of the 20-race FedEx Championship Series that will be broadcast to millions of US households and to 188 countries around the world. With network coverage, growing attendance and expanding national audiences, the CART Series has grown dramatically in popularity. Beginning with the Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami, March 23, the open wheel racers end their season with The 500 in Fontana, California, October 29.
The SmarTire monitoring systems are part of the leading-edge technology supplied to the motorsport industry through Pi Research Inc. As the primary supplier of data acquisition products to the FedEx CART Series, the Pi Research products record information and send it via telemetry to the pit crew. Pi Research represents the most technically advanced systems available to the motorsport industry and SmarTire is proud of the role played by its tire monitoring systems.
Gerald R. Forsythe, President of Players/Forsythe Racing, one of the most successful teams, states that "innovative technology from suppliers including SmarTire allows engineers and drivers to use this data to improve car and driver performance. SmarTire's monitoring system as distributed by Pi Research has become a critical component in a racecar's overall performance and safety."
SmarTire Systems Inc. is an emerging technology company that develops and markets proprietary wireless tire monitoring systems. Through their strategic alliance, SmarTire and TRW Inc. are committed to providing superior tire monitoring systems for both after market and original equipment applications.
