Prudential Reduces Rates for Florida Drivers

HOLMDEL, N.J.--March 23, 2000--Prudential Property and Casualty Insurance Company (PRUPAC) is reducing auto insurance rates in Florida by an average of 7.2 percent statewide.
"We're delighted to lower prices for our auto policyholders in Florida for the second time in about 18 months," said Ed Rafter, PRUPAC President. "Not only are we offering lower prices, but our customers will find we've made terrific improvements to our customer service. State of the art technology enhances our claims handling process and makes it easier for our customers to do business with us -- and that's our primary goal."
The price reduction takes effect on March 24 for new auto policies, Rafter notes. Customers with existing policies will start seeing their savings as their policies renew on or after April 26.
In another new development, Prudential just introduced Recreational Vehicle coverage for antique and classic cars.
In addition, the company expanded its Deluxe Package Discount Program to include a 5 percent discount for policies insuring one car that meet and maintain certain specified coverages and qualifications. The Deluxe Package Discount for policies with more than one car is 15 percent.
A variety of other discounts may help to lower Prudential premiums even further for Florida drivers. For example, customers who have auto and life policies with Prudential can lower their premiums by 5 percent in certain cases with the company's Companion for Life Discount. The company also offers customers who have auto and home policies with Prudential a Companion Policy Discount of up to 15 percent.
Other premium-saving discounts are available for safety devices, anti-theft devices, driver training, good student, and defensive driving.
In addition to auto coverage, PRUPAC offers excess Personal Catastrophe Liability insurance.
Prudential provides coverage for over 67,000 autos in Florida and sells personal lines insurance products and life insurance and annuities through about 400 agents in the state.
Prudential Property and Casualty Insurance Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Prudential Insurance Company of America, based in Newark, NJ. Prudential is one of the largest life insurance companies in North America.
