John Deere 8300 Gets Top Honors in eXtremeAg.com Tractor Testing
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa--March 23, 2000--The John Deere 8300 has garnered top honors in eXtremeAg.com's first annual Tractor Test results. The editors at eXtremeAg.com cut right to the chase and tested the top-of-the-line, high horsepower units. The Iron Hammer, eXtremeAg.com's own tractor and machinery guru, along with the help of field tests from the University of Nebraska, has put together a must-see, no-holds-barred consumer report for farmers.
The John Deere tractor went head-to-head with Case-International Harvester MX 240 , AGCO-Allis 9695 , White 6195 , and New Holland 8970 . All tractors have Turbo-Intercooled engines, except for the AGCO-Allis, which is turbo-charged.
While the John Deere unit did not win every category in the testing, eXtremeAg.com compared and contrasted data from the Nebraska tractor tests and also included less tangible categories such as operator use and ergonomics, dealership organization, customer service and resale value, to arrive at its findings.
The Iron Hammer found the John Deere tractor to be more user-friendly, fuel efficient, and it had a better hydraulic capacity than its competitors. Finally, Big Green's customer service was rated better.
Following are just a few quotes from The Iron Hammer, in his review of the tractors:
"My Case-IH service technician--at $40 to $60 per hour to come out--they ought to bring a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader half-time show to my field with them."
On customer service for the tractors, The Iron Hammer says White and AGCO-Allis "leave something to be desired. They both have an extremely weak dealer organization, a poor customer base, and their customer service is poor."
