Delphi Expands Support for Navistar International Corp.

LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 23 Delphi Automotive Systems
will add International Truck and Engine Corporation, manufacturer
of International(R) brand trucks, buses and engines, to its expanding list of
customers with more than $35 million of annual business, starting next year,
Delphi officials said here today at the 29th Annual Mid-America Trucking Show.
Navistar International Corporation announced earlier today that it has
returned to the roots of its proud heritage by changing the name of its
operating company to International Truck and Engine Corporation. The
operating company's new identity traces its origins to 1914 when the
International(R) brand was first used on the company's trucks. The former
name for the operating company was Navistar International Transportation
Corporation.
Delphi received contracts to manufacture modular doors, instrument panels,
seat belts and steering wheels for International's new line of medium-duty
trucks.
Delphi announced last March that International had contracted Delphi to
engineer and manage more than 80 percent of the cab door content on its new
product line. Delphi door content will include glass, hinges, outside
handles, seals, as well as hardware modules, which carry the window lift
system along with the lock/latch system.
In October 1999, Delphi announced a long-term contract with International
to design and manufacture seat belts for the first phase of International's
re-design of its entire product line, which will begin with its medium-duty
vehicles.
Delphi's first contract with International was obtained in 1998, for the
manufacture of instrument panels for the upcoming medium-duty truck program.
In addition to the modular door, seat belt and instrument panel business that
was previously announced, Delphi announced today for the first time that it
will also supply International with steering wheels. The steering wheels will
be manufactured at Delphi's Vandalia facility near Dayton, Ohio, the same
location at which Delphi will manufacture International modular doors. Seat
belts for International will be Delphi's first seat belts manufactured in
North America and will be made at Delphi's award-winning RIMIR facility in
Matamoros, Mexico.
International Truck and Engine Corporation is the operating company of
Navistar International Corporation . It is a leading producer of
medium trucks, school buses, heavy trucks, severe service vehicles and mid-
range diesel engines sold under the International(R) brand. The company is
also a private label designer and manufacturer of diesel engines for the
truck, van and SUV markets. With world headquarters in Chicago, Navistar had
sales and revenues of $8.6 billion in 1999.
Delphi Automotive Systems, headquartered in Troy, Mich., USA, is a world
leader in transportation and mobile electronics components and systems
technology. Delphi's three business sectors -- Dynamics & Propulsion; Safety,
Thermal & Electrical Architecture; and Electronics & Mobile Communication --
provide comprehensive product solutions to complex customer needs. Delphi has
