BMW Team PTG ready for Charlotte

          CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 23, 2000) -- BMW Team PTG is
heading for the high banks of Lowe's Motor Speedway in
Charlotte, where the American Le Mans Series makes its first
appearance on April 1. The race is the second of 12 in the 2000
series, sanctioned by Professional Sports Car Racing.
          The American Le Mans Series Grand Prix of Charlotte will be
the second race for the all-new 2001 BMW M3 race car, which
was introduced at Sebring International Raceway last week.  The
new No. 6 car will be driven by Hans Stuck of Austria and
Johannes van Overbeek of Danville, Calif.  Their teammates Peter
Cunningham of West Bend, Wis., and Brian Cunningham of
Danville, Ky., will share driving honors in the team's 1999 No. 10
BMW M3.

          Tom Salkowsky, motorsport manager for BMW of North
America, Inc., explained the team's strategy.  "We're still looking
to gather more development time and more race time with the new
M3 -- development of a new race car takes time," he said.  "And
we're looking for more positive results with the No. 10 car. 
However, Charlotte is a track that's unproven for us.  We are
working hard to prepare for next Saturday and run the hardest
race we possibly can.  I have confidence in the PTG team and our
drivers."

          "We learned a lot about the new car just by being at Sebring,
and that will make the car faster at Charlotte," said BMW Team
PTG owner Tom Milner.  "At the same time, I think that the No. 10
car will be better there than it was at Sebring.  We had some half-
shaft problems that hit both cars, but we plan to have them
corrected for Charlotte.  And Charlotte is a shorter race, so I think
it probably will be better there."

          The team's drivers are also ready to show the team's
potential.

          "I'm looking forward to Charlotte for a variety of reasons,"
said van Overbeek.  "Flextronics and Level One will have some
people in attendance, so I'm anxious to show them a good time. 
I'm also looking forward to getting some redemption for Sebring. 
It was not the kind of debut we were looking for, and I want to
work with Hans [Stuck] to get the best results we can through the
weekend.  I have no doubts it will be better than Sebring, and
hopefully we can finish on the podium for the first time this year."

          Peter Cunningham said he and co-driver Brian Cunningham
are also looking for a strong finish.  It will be their final American Le
Mans Series race in the 1999 M3, which will be replaced by a new
2001 M3.  "After our disappointment at Sebring last week, I am
anxious to climb back behind the wheel and give it another shot,"
he said. "We would like to do everything we can to make the last
appearance of this car a successful one."

            Both cars will carry the colors of team sponsors Yokohama,
Flextronics International and Level One.

          The American Le Mans Series Grand Prix of Charlotte is
scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET on April 1.  It will be telecast live
on NBC from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET.  The American Le Mans Series
