Kyrus Corporation Announces Fuel Path: An Integrated Fuel Pump Solution

TAYLORS, S.C., March 21 Kyrus Corporation announced today
the development of Fuel Path, an integrated fuel pump solution for the
supermarket, mass merchandiser and wholesale club market segments, known
collectively in the fuel industry as 'hypermarkets.' The solution essentially
provides these markets with opportunities to expand into petroleum retailing
and offer convenience products at the fuel pump point of sale.
"This solution allows Kyrus the ability to offer best-of-breed POS and
fuel pump technology in an integrated solution," says Roger McCain of Kyrus
Corporation.
"One of the major business reasons why Fuel Path was developed lies in the
fact that supermarket retailers have lost market share to convenience stores
and restaurants," adds McCain. "The research has shown the most attractive
market penetration point for Fuel Path to be in grocery supermarkets and mass
merchandisers with a convenience store product or fuel strategy. This
solution, with its seamless point of entry for fuel sales in a retail
environment, successfully addresses a real need in the industry."
Fuel Path offers JGUI, touch-screen technology at the fuel pump or the
convenience store point of sale. The transaction data connects seamlessly to
the customer's IBM 4690 POS and the IBM Supermarket Application V2 platforms.
Fuel Path offers advanced transaction processing and extends existing
customer loyalty programs to the stand-alone fuel island. Programs such as
electronic coupons, points and discounts that apply in the store can now apply
to the fuel or c-store operation. Other end-user payment options include pay
at the pump by credit or debit card, pay inside while grocery shopping and
purchase a car wash at the pump (provided availability of a compatible car
wash on site.) The system also generates a printed fuel/convenience product
receipt for the end-user.
Kyrus Corporation has customer installations in all 50 states and in
several countries. The company serves the supermarket, retail, convenience,
hospitality and school food service (K-12) industries. Kyrus offers a
complete range of products and services, including hardware/software
maintenance, professional and consulting services, and has separate business
units dedicated to store security, store signage and store supplies. Kyrus
maintains a nationwide dealer network which services supermarket and retail
chains with 30 or fewer stores as well as the school food service segment (K-
12).
