PALO ALTO, Calif. and OAK RIDGE, Tenn.--March 21, 2000--Autobytel.com, Excite@Home, CarOrder.com, Autoweb.com, AutoVantage.com and AutoNation Feature iPIX(TM) Virtual Tours of New
and Used Cars to Drive E-commerce
Internet Pictures Corporation ("iPIX"), a leader in global visual content and infrastructure for the Internet, announced agreements to provide iPIX(TM) Virtual Tours to an affiliate network of the Internet's leading automotive sites including Autobytel.com, Excite@Home, CarOrder.com, Autoweb.com, AutoVantage.com and AutoNation. iPIX visual content drives site traffic and transaction velocity by allowing consumers to virtually tour the interior of new and used automobiles.
iPIX(TM) Virtual Tours allow buyers to see the inside of a vehicle the same way they would if they were actually there, without leaving their PCs. Viewers use their mouse to navigate a complete 360-degree-by-360-degree field of view, from the sunroof above to the floor mats below, and all around, capturing the ambiance of a vehicle, including leg room, leather seats, dashboard and extra drink holder locations.
"We are excited to provide iPIX visual content to the millions of online automobile shoppers via our affiliate partners," said Jim Phillips, chairman and CEO of iPIX. "iPIX(TM) Virtual Tours add the sticky content that drives sales for the Web's leading portals and e-retailers. Working with leaders like these demonstrates the broad acceptance of iPIX visual content solutions for e-commerce applications across a variety of categories including automobiles, hotels and resort destinations, cities, real estate, online auctions and product showcases."
iPIX is building an "Imaging Infranet," an extensive global infrastructure of services, affiliate networks, and content delivery systems for visual content. This combination of robust infrastructure and services makes iPIX a premier provider for one-stop Internet imaging solutions in the real estate, e-retail, travel, publishing, entertainment, consumer online auctions, architecture/engineering/construction and insurance markets. iPIX's visual content infrastructure services are used by many of the Internet's leading sites including AOL, CNN, Discovery.com, Homestore.com(TM), Microsoft HomeAdvisor, and Excite@Home. The agreements enhance iPIX's e-commerce offerings, and are part of ongoing multimedia enhancements to drive transactions on the leading automobile sites.
"Incorporating iPIX(TM) images in the Excite Autos experience, our users will now have the ability to not only look at the exterior images of vehicles, but also take a look around the inside of selected vehicles," said Wendy Hromadka, product manager of Excite@Home Autos.
