I-Logix' Rhapsody in MicroC Solution Captures Tech 2000 Award at SAE 2000 World Congress
ANDOVER, Mass.--March 20, 2000--Affirming I-Logix' leadership status in the automotive market, Automotive Engineering International (AEI) magazine has awarded Rhapsody(TM) in MicroC its best of show solution in the "Virtual Programming" category. AEI's Tech 2000 awards are presented to companies with products that will have a significant impact on the automotive industry. Rhapsody in MicroC captured this honor for its ability to streamline the development process of automotive electronic control units (ECUs) and its ability to generate production code from graphical designs while reducing overall development time by at least 30%."The editors of Automotive Engineering International were looking for the top innovative products that will have a profound impact on the whole industry," said Dan Holt, AEI's editor-in-chief and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) editor-in-chief, Magazines Division. "The rising complexity of features in the car, as well as the complexity associated with their interaction, demands a more efficient and more reliable development process. I-Logix' Rhapsody in MicroC allows automotive companies to migrate to such a development process while maintaining and even improving the business interaction between automotive OEMs and their suppliers. This is key to our industry's ability to address the challenges we are facing."
"I-Logix is proud to receive this honor from SAE, which validates our belief that Rhapsody in MicroC is a best-in-class solution," said Gene Robinson, president and CEO of I-Logix. "Rhapsody in MicroC, designed with the help of some of the most prestigious car makers in the world, provides the optimal platform for developing the next generation of automotive applications. It provides innovative solutions that allow car manufacturers and their suppliers to create more advanced features and to better differentiate their offerings while improving quality and cutting the time to bring products to market. We are looking forward to working with SAE on educating and mentoring engineers and maturing the automotive development process."
About Rhapsody in MicroC
Rhapsody in MicroC graphically captures the software architecture and its behavior, generates fully readable and deployable code, and validates the code up front before anything is built, thus eliminating costly product iterations that are typical of current processes. Moreover, the automatically generated C code fits on the 8-bit and 16-bit microcontrollers that are widely used in automotive applications. Combined with I-Logix' Statemate(R) MAGNUM(TM), the industry's de-facto standard system engineering tool, Rhapsody in MicroC allows OEMs and their suppliers to share executable models and benefit from a seamless model-based development process.
Rhapsody in MicroC enables designers to define the application programming interface (API) to the execution environment that is being used in the target ECU, plus it automatically generates OSEK-optimized production code. Once this is defined, designers can generate code that will compile and run without modifications, regardless of the underlying scheduler or OS. This allows designers to concentrate on the required application, rather than its interaction with the execution environment, resulting in significant time savings and a reduction in errors.
