Regional Vice Presidents Named At Hometown Auto Retailers
WATERTOWN, Conn.--March 20, 2000--Hometown Auto Retailers, Inc. , a leading consolidator and operator of automotive dealerships in the Northeast, today announced the appointment of two regional vice presidents to oversee dealership operations.William Muller, a director and co-founder of Hometown Auto Retailers, will oversee all operations in New York and New Jersey. Muller is a ten-time winner of the Toyota Presidents Award, which is presented by Toyota Corporation for achieving high sales volume and excellence in quality of service. Muller, a second-generation dealer, brings a tremendous amount of expertise to the Hometown dealership operations.
Steven Shaker, currently a vice president of Hometown Auto, will direct all Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont operations. Shaker currently oversees all parts and service operations and is a third-generation dealer principal. Among his recent responsibilities, he oversaw the development of the first stand-alone Ford Motor Company service center or "Auto Care" operation.

Hometown Auto has initiated two important steps to contribute to its continued success. The first step established unique inventory matrices designed to maximize customer selection and minimize excess inventory. In addition, the Company launched a comprehensive 52-week training program for its entire sales force.
Each regional vice president will monitor the dealerships' vital daily functions, including market representation, stocking levels, parts inventories, service, sales, and other key dealership ratios. The focus will be on implementing solutions which facilitate the ability of dealerships to meet and exceed Company objectives.
