    HOUSTON, March 20 Cooper Industries, Inc. , a
leading manufacturer of electrical products and tools and hardware, has
completed its previously announced acquisition of Eagle Electric Manufacturing
Co., Inc., a Long Island City, N.Y.-based manufacturer of wiring devices.
Cooper plans to combine the assets of Eagle with its other existing wiring
device operations, including Arrow Hart and Industrias Royer, S.A. de C.V., to
form a new division to be known as Cooper Wiring Devices.  Neal Kluger, who
had served as president and chief executive officer of Eagle Electric, will be
president of the new division.
    Cooper Industries, with 1999 revenues of $3.9 billion, is a worldwide
manufacturer of electrical products, tools and hardware.  Cooper Industries
offers its electrical equipment customers a wide variety of products including
fuses, overcurrent protection products, fluorescent, incandescent and HID
lighting fixtures, emergency lighting, fire detection systems and security
equipment, components and systems to distribute and manage electrical power,
electrical distribution products, explosion-proof equipment, industrial and
airport lighting and sensor and control devices for power equipment.
