Shelby American Appoints New Management; New Executives Named as Company Begins Shipment of Series 1 Sports GTLAS VEGAS, March 15 Shelby American, Inc., manufacturer of high performance cars including the Shelby Series 1 and classic Shelby Cobra, has announced a series of management changes. Under the direction of legendary racer and board member Carroll Shelby, the Nevada company will be directed by Nelson Gonzalez, who has been appointed president of Venture Nevada, working in conjunction with Shelby American on the new Shelby Series 1 project. Venture Industries is the prime supplier of Shelby Series 1 components as well as an equity partner. Gonzalez previously worked for General Motors, where he held the general position of plant manager. After retiring from GM, he joined Venture 11 years ago as a manufacturing manager. Don Rager, president and chief executive officer of Shelby American since 1995, will now be pursuing special projects on behalf of the company. Bob Marsh has been appointed business unit manager for Shelby's Cobra operations and will report to Nelson Gonzalez. Marsh was previously responsible for managing production of Shelby vehicles marketed jointly by Shelby and the Chrysler Corporation. In addition to Cobra production, his responsibilities include business management of sales and other aspects of the Cobra business. Gary Pniewski has been appointed Business Unit Manager for the current Shelby Series 1 project with similar overall business planning responsibilities for that vehicle and will report to Nelson Gonzalez.
