    TOLEDO, Ohio, March 15 Dana Corporation
announced today that it has been selected by a major original-equipment
manufacturer to supply the complete engine sealing system for a variety of
North American and European 2004 through 2010 model-year vehicles.  The
contract business is worth $180 million to Dana Corporation, which will begin
supplying the systems in 2003.

    "By providing complete integrated systems we are able to satisfy our
customers' needs for quality, cost competitiveness, and speed to market," said
Joe Magliochetti, Dana's president and chief executive officer. "Our customers
can depend on Dana to provide one knowledgeable, reliable source that can
combine engineering and design expertise with manufacturing know-how to manage
the sealing of an entire engine."
    Products Dana will supply include the isolated cam cover sealing system,
coolant crossover gaskets, lower intake gaskets, inner-water pump gaskets,
cylinder head gaskets, die-cut paper gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, valve
stem seals, o-rings, front and rear crankshaft seals, spark plug tube seals,
oil control valve seals, and sealant materials.
    To ensure durability and optimum performance, Dana's exhaust manifold and
cylinder head gaskets will be manufactured from multi-layered steel.
    This contract comes just months after Dana announced it had been selected
to seal the entire Tritec engine, a joint venture between DaimlerChrysler and
the BMW Group.
