Speedway Motorsports Reports on Atlanta Motor Speedway Race Weekend

CONCORD, N.C., March 15 Officials of Speedway Motorsports,
Inc. today announced that attendance for the Cracker Barrel Old
Country Store 500 NASCAR Winston Cup Series weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway
March 10-12, met the Company's expectations despite the threat of rain and a
six-hour rain delay during the Aaron's Rent 312 NASCAR Busch Series, Grand
National Division race.
The third largest crowd in the event's history witnessed 30 lead changes
among 17 different drivers ending in a fantastic photo finish by Dale
Earnhardt over Bobby Labonte at the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 500. The
overnight television rating for the event, broadcast live on ABC, increased to
4.7 from 4.6 the prior year. Mark Martin, a Winston Cup Series regular
competitor, claimed the victory of the Aaron's Rent 312 NASCAR Busch Series
race.
"A similar weather system that hit us in Las Vegas hit us again in
Atlanta," stated H.A. Wheeler, president and chief operating officer.
"But the drivers and teams put on a great show reminding us of what NASCAR
racing is all about -- side by side racing with close competition."
