Rent-A-Tire Opens New Store in Gretna as First Step into the Louisiana Market; New shop marks Rent-A-Tire's 40th Location in Five Years

    FORT WORTH, Texas--March 15, 2000--Rent-A-Tire, America's finest rent-to-own chain offering premium tires and rims, has opened a store in Gretna, La., which is the chain's first store in Louisiana. This is also Rent-A-Tire's first foray outside of Texas.
    The new store is the 40th in Rent-A-Tire's chain of retail shops, which are located throughout Texas. The chain began as one store in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1995.
    The 4,000-square-foot store, which is located at 2 West Bank Expressway, offers a large selection of premium tires and up to 100 styles of premier rims. Customers can rent the tires and rims on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis. When the customer fulfills the rental agreement, they then own the merchandise. Customers can rent without undergoing a credit check, and are free to return the tires and rims at any time during the agreement without any question or hassle.
    "We are especially excited about opening this store because it represents several significant milestones for us," said Rich Hollander, president of Rent-A-Tire. "It marks the first expansion outside of Texas for the company and opens a brand new market for us.
    "It also marks the 40th store in our chain. The fact that we have been able to expand so quickly is a tribute to the quality of the people in our organization and our customers' acceptance of this exciting new way of filling their needs. We always felt that there was a definite market for rent-to-own tires and rims. The enthusiastic response from our customers proved we were right," Hollander added.
    Rent-A-Tire is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cash America International, Inc., , the largest operator of retail pawnshops in the world. Cash America is based in Fort Worth, Texas.
