HYTORC Bolting System Assures 100 Percent Leakproof Flange-ConnectionHANOVER and MUNICH, Germany, March 15 Bolted flange connections with seals can be very problematic. Leakage may cause disruptions, shutdowns or accidents with far reaching consequences for people and environment. It is interesting that almost all leakage and the resulting failures and consequences are not a result of the seals being used but of the bolting techniques and methods being applied. The problem is, that seals extrude. In effect after bolting procedure the seal will creep after a certain time. This creep will result in the loss of clamping force and leakage will result. The american / german company HYTORC in Munich, which is represented worldwide, will show a newly developed bolting-system at the HANNOVER-FAIR. This system makes it possible even on space restricted flange connections with integral seals to apply several hydraulic torque wrenches simultaneously from a single hydraulic power supply with up to 700 bar (10.000 PSI) pressure. Force is applied to the flange evenly allowing for parallel closure and an even load on the gasket-seal. With this hydraulic bolting system a predictable and accurate clampload is achieved by relating the torque value to a previously established bolt load with a repeatability of + 0.4 percent. The benefit of the designed Automatic Electronic Alignment (AEA) is: Prior to loading up joint bolts, both joint faces are first brought into parallelism without any load on the closed end -- automatically, without fail, without operator's involvement. For example, a flange with 20 bolts M 42 and Nuts with Hexsize 65 mm across the flats an B-7 bolting material requiring 5.100 Nm Torque can be made up in about 20 minutes. The flange stays tight. Time consuming tensioning and extensive space requirements for tensioners and bridges are no longer required. The international company HYTORC is the oldest and largest manufacturer of Hydraulic Torque wrenches and Bolting-Technologies. The production is in Mahwah, New Jersey USA. The german company HYTORC, a Division of Barbarino & Kilp, was settled in the year 1730 in Munich and represents HYTORC in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. HYTORC wins a lot of Quality and Innovative-Awards in Germany, USA and Japan. HYTORC is certified by ISO 9002. The owners of these two companies are John Junkers / USA and Peter Junkers / Germany.
