Lands' End Corporate Sales Launches Saturn Online Custom Store

DODGEVILLE, Wis., March 13 Lands' End , the
largest seller of apparel online, will launch one of its first Online Custom
Stores for Saturn Corporation in March 2000. Lands' End is extending its
consumer Internet leadership into the business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce
marketplace with Online Custom Stores. The Saturn Online Custom Store will be
accessible through the company's intranet to 8,000 Saturn employees and via
the Internet to over 400 Saturn retailers nationwide. Saturn owners will also
have the opportunity to purchase Lands' End Saturn signature apparel at their
local Saturn Retail Stores.
"We're excited about the Saturn licensing partnership-we helped put the
Saturn family into the driver's seat by creating a custom store just for
them," said Mike Grasee, director of Internet development for Lands' End
Corporate Sales.
"The store gives our Saturn team a quick and efficient way to obtain
licensed merchandise with the Saturn signature," said Karen Orso, program
manager for Saturn. "Lands' End Corporate Sales' product quality,
ever-changing styles and colors, and focus on service made them the right
choice for us."
In response to a survey of Saturn team members and retailers about their
apparel preferences, the Saturn Custom Store will offer a broad selection of
business casual apparel for men and women-including mesh shirts, classic denim
shirts, cotton sweaters and Polartec(R) jackets-with the Saturn signature.
Employees can choose from one of six Saturn signatures that can be embroidered
on any of over 100 product styles. The Logo SnapShot(TM) feature lets members
see how the signature will look on any item before making their purchase.
The Saturn Online Store allows visitors to add items to their shopping
basket, receive a price quote, and order one or several products for a
quantity discount. For the personal touch-a Lands' End hallmark-customer
service representatives will be available to answer team members' questions
from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. via a toll-free number just for Saturn.
This summer, Lands' End will introduce Lands' End Live(TM) to the Saturn
site. This new feature will allow visitors to connect with Corporate Sales
customer service representatives who are trained to answer questions regarding
the Saturn Signature Store. Together, the visitor and the customer service
representative will shop with their browsers synchronized so that each views
the same pages at the same time.
Saturn joins a small but growing number of Fortune 1000 companies opening
their own intranet and Internet online stores, allowing everyone in the
company to order pre-approved signature apparel and accessories without
worrying about minimum order requirements. Lands' End Corporate Sales utilizes
just-in-time inventory, which eliminates stocking and inventory carrying fees.
Lands' End Corporate Sales has opened an Online Custom Store for Carolina
Power & Light to use for incentive program gifts to employees, as well as
corporate workwear purchases. RadioShack will soon offer an Online Custom
Store.
