Intermet Announces New Executive Vice President

    TROY, Mich., March 9 John Doddridge, Intermet
Chairman and CEO, announced today that Michael J. Ryan is
joining Intermet as Executive Vice President responsible for manufacturing
operations and as a member of the Corporate Operating Committee.  John
Doddridge said, "We are excited to have an individual of Mike's caliber and
impressive background join the Intermet senior management team."
    Mr. Ryan has extensive experience in the automotive industry.  He comes to
Intermet from TRW where he was Vice President of Chassis Systems, North
America.  Prior to that he was Vice President of North American Braking
Systems for Lucas Varity which was acquired by TRW.
    Prior to joining Lucas Varity, Mr. Ryan was Vice President of Interior
Operations for United Technologies Automotive.  From 1981 to 1991 he was
previously with TRW Automotive, holding a variety of positions including
General Manager of Automotive Products Remanufacturing.  Mr. Ryan began his
career with Ford Tractor Operations as a cooperative trainee and in the eleven
years with Ford, advanced to Inspection Superintendent of North American
Manufacturing.  During his career, he has also held two foreign assignments in
the United Kingdom.
    Mr. Ryan received a Bachelor of Science in automotive engineering from
Western Michigan University and obtained an MBA from Wayne State University.
    Mike and his wife, Christine, make their home in Rochester Hills,
Michigan, and have two children, a son who is currently attending Pennsylvania
State University and a daughter attending the University of Michigan.
