DaimlerChrysler will sponsor and team up with eight of the 67 teams participating in this weekend's event, encouraging these students to pursue careers in science and engineering. OSMTech Academy team member Cindy Hess, DaimlerChrysler Vice President Corporate Quality, said, "It is exciting to be part of a program that generates an interest in science and engineering among today's youth and convinces them that science is not only rewarding and exciting, but also fun. We share our know-how on product design with the students; the students apply this to their design and add their ingredients of enthusiasm and creativity." The participating teams of ninth to twelfth grade students partner with the region's top corporations and universities and test their intellects and fertile imaginations by designing ball-throwing robots and compete with other FIRST teams.
