Spectra Inc: Internet Access Service Enhanced with New Wireless Capabilities

TORONTO--March 9, 2000--Spectra Inc. (SSA: CDNX) reports that it's partner Galaxy OnLine Inc. (GOLI.CDN) has acquired new technology which can significantly enhance the capabilities for Truckinguniverse.com, Spectra's ISP for the trucking industry.
Galaxy OnLine Inc. has signed a letter of intent to acquire Moby Dark Inc. a company developing cost effective advanced, high performance embedded IP networking products which include advancements in scalable wireless routing technology, fixed wireless and networked video applications for the emerging mobile markets.
Andrew Malion, Chairman of Spectra Inc., stated, "Spectra's Truckinguniverse.com will be able to capitalize on these technologies and offer the trucking industry unparalleled Internet services across North America, which should add significant revenue generating potential. By offering a state-of-the-art high performance product, Truckinguniverse.com will enjoy major competitive advantages in the Internet marketplace, with unique rapid penetration into the mobile markets and rural areas."
The current market focus is on wireless network products that provide interoperability with other wireless and terrestrial based networks. Moby Dark's family of wireless products will be one of the first to provide universal interoperability on the TCP/IP transport layer. The next generation of product will include application-to-broadband interoperability of small/personal network appliances (such as Palmtops and cell phones) that mesh intelligently with multi-service TCP/IP service providers.
The fixed wireless product can provide DSL comparable speeds without requiring additional wiring and without the distance limitations from the telephone-switching office that DSL imposes. The networked integration of fixed wireless and satellite technology together allows for the complete bypassing of telephony infrastructure and unique rapid penetration into both rural and metropolitan areas in North America. Both traditional voice traffic and Internet services can be provided from the same fixed wireless technology.
Spectra Inc. is an Internet Service Provider focusing on the Internet connectivity needs of the transportation industry as well as a manufacturer and distributor of safety products for the commercial transportation industry in North America. Its primary safety products include the innovative Brake Safe (TM), a visual brake stroke indicator, the revolutionary SmarTire (TM), a tire monitoring system, as well as Termin-8r(R), a new line of anti-corrosion and extreme pressure lubricating products.
