GARDENA, Calif., March 9 Nissan North America, Inc. today
announced pricing on its 2001 Pathfinder premium sport utility vehicle, which
goes on sale March 15, 2000 at more than 1,100 Nissan retailers nationwide.
The new Pathfinder starts at $27,649 for the XE 4x2 model -- the same MSRP as
the 2000 model equipped with the XE Popular Package -- despite an extensive
list of refinements including a new 240 horsepower 3.5 liter V6 engine. The
popularly equipped 2001 Pathfinder SE 4x4 with automatic transmission and
standard popular package remains at $30,349.

The 2001 Pathfinder delivers vastly improved performance through use of an
all-new 3.5 liter V6 engine, which utilizes the same technology in the
award-winning Maxima V6. The new Pathfinder's standard V6 is rated at
240 horsepower and 265 ft-lbs. of torque when equipped with an automatic
transmission (250 horsepower and 240 ft-lbs. torque with the 5-speed manual
transmission standard on SE) -- a 40% increase over the 3.3 liter V6-equipped
2000 model. The new Pathfinder has more horsepower than the largest engines
available in Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota 4Runner, and Lexus
sport utility vehicles.
Inside, the 2001 Pathfinder gets interior revisions including a redesigned
the instrument panel and center stack, with a new interior color -- Dark
Charcoal. Pathfinder continues to offer premium equipment through standard
and optional amenities. The most popular Pathfinder, the sporty SE, now
offers as standard equipment halogen fog lights, rear wind deflector and a
newly available in-dash 6-disc CD changer and steering wheel mounted audio
controls.
On XE models, the XE Popular Package is also now standard. This package
includes power windows, heated mirrors and locks, remote keyless entry and
vehicle security system, rear cargo area cover and convenience net, and
leather-wrapped steering wheel.
On luxurious LE models, the LE Sunroof package with a one-touch power
glass sunroof with tilt feature (a no-charge option on the 2000 model) is now
standard. LE is further improved with one touch up/down front windows, auto
on/off headlamps and an in-dash 6-disc CD changer with steering wheel-mounted
audio controls. On LE models with the Leather Package, a driver's side
two-position memory seat is now available.
