DataDetroit.com Launches 'BFGoodrich(R) Tires Vehicle of the Future' Design Contest

DETROIT, March 9 DataDetroit.com, an automotive specific
Internet job board, today announced the launch of the "BFGoodrich(R) Tires
Vehicle of the Future" design competition. The contest is open to high school
students throughout North America. Students are invited to submit a drawing
and short explanation of a vehicle they will see in the future and win cash
prizes.
All entries must be submitted by June 1, 2000. Fifteen finalists will be
named in mid-June and three winners will be announced on July 4. The 15
finalists will be judged by a group of professionals from the automotive
industry. They also will choose the three winners.
The first place winner will receive $500 and have their work showcased on
DataDetroit.com's web site. Second place will receive $250 and third place
will receive $100. The 15 finalists will all be identified on the web site
after they are named.
DataDetroit.com initiated the contest to help expose the tremendous career
opportunities available to students who may or may not have a passion for the
automotive industry.
"The contest is a win-win situation for both the students and the
industry," said Thomas Feeney, president of DataDetroit.com. "The students
get a chance to think about automotive careers and the industry gets to look
at new, fresh ideas."
The BFGoodrich Scorcher T/A is the official tire of the competition. The
Scorcher T/A is the world's first color, high-performance tire and allows
consumers to take vehicle customization to a new level. Scorcher T/A colors
and tire specifications can be found online at http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com .
"We feel the Scorcher T/A is an ideal fit for this contest," said Mathew
Aaron, brand manager for BFGoodrich Tires. "It has redefined consumers'
abilities to customize their vehicles and will provide the added touch for the
students to use in their renderings."
