Faurecia Presents in Preview the A.T.C.S. Car Seat (Advanced Thorax Care System) at the SAE Show in Detroit (USA)Adopted by the E.U. PARIS, March 9 Two years ago, using accident and biomechanical data and in partnership with OEMs, Faurecia initiated an important evolution of E.U. regulations concerning seat belt anchorage (ECE 14). There was a real need to include the influence of seat belt load limiters into existing regulations, especially ABTS (All Belts To Seat). On March 8, 2000, this proposal was adopted by E.U. authorities in Geneva. The A.T.C.S. concept, originating from Faurecia's safety methodology -- the Continuous Safety Concept -- provides optimal chest protection and improved comfort. A.T.C.S. also simplifies car assembly for the OEMs. This proves the technological advance that Faurecia has in the areas of occupant safety and lightweighting in automotive seating. This safety innovation is presented at the SAE show in Detroit (USA) on Faurecia booth (Number 1881). Faurecia, Number 5 European automotive equipment supplier, designs, develops and manufactures seating, exhaust systems, vehicle interior modules and front-ends. Taking into account the acquisition of AP Automotive Systems at the end of 1999, proforma sales totaled 4.8 billion euros. The Group has 35,000 employees and 110 facilities in 27 countries.
