AMCI to Experience Significant Growth in Wireless Technology

OMAHA, March 9 AMCI, a wireless data solutions provider
based in Omaha, announced today they will significantly increase investment in
new product development and grow their employee base over 50% this year as
they continue to enter new markets with their products and services.
"We intend to increase our investment in new product development by over
$10 million in order to facilitate AMCI's expansion into additional markets
with our leading-edge wireless software, service and hardware solutions,"
states company President and CEO Lynden Tennison.
AMCI has served the railroad industry for more than 12 years with their
ability to develop, design, implement and support wireless data technologies.
"As the need to receive and transmit data from remote and mobile locations
rises," said Tennison, "interest in wireless data transactions becomes
increasingly higher within various industries such as transportation,
utilities, and field services." AMCI is leveraging their experience and
products developed to support the transportation industry to provide solutions
in new market segments. Some of AMCI's current wireless products include
Internet access to Global Positioning System (GPS) for fleet management
applications and wireless enabled work assignment and reporting.
In order to accomplish this, Tennison said "AMCI is implementing
aggressive expansion plans for the next three years. By the end of 2000 we
will have hired over 80 people to augment our engineering, project management,
sales, marketing and administrative organization which will increase total
staff to over 150." This growth includes the recent enhancement of AMCI's 7
by 24 support center which is responsible for first line customer care.
Critical wireless applications will receive round the clock care, whether
hosted by a customer's computing center, or provided through AMCI's Data
Center and its Wireless Application Hosting.
With the addition of more people comes the need for more space. "Last
October AMCI moved into new corporate offices at 9119 Western Avenue and in
less than four months the initial space allocated was full," according to
Chuck Svajgl, Vice President of Operations. In order to accommodate for new
employee hires and the needed space for projects, AMCI took over nearly 30,000
square feet of additional space in the same building last week.
